Doodling

 What is a doodle?

doodle is a drawing made while a person may be thinking about something else or daydreaming.

Maybe you doodle in school when your teacher is talking.

Some people believe doodling can help us concentrate more!

Here is a boy who became famous for his doodles.

Today you can practice making your own doodles.

Let's watch Mr. Doodle inspired doodling pictures to get some ideas.

Spaces and Places

Where is a place that is special or significant to you?

What do you see, smell, hear?

Is it crowded?

It is primarily man made? Or is it a spot in nature?

Is it a place you went on vacation? Or is it a place you visit everyday?

Can you create artwork about that place?

My Happy Place

Imagination- the ability to imagine things that are not real : the ability to form a picture in your mind of something that you have not seen or experienced.

Think of a time and place where you felt really happy.  Did you feel calm? Cozy? Safe? Quiet? Did you know you can visit this place whenever you like?

You can if you practice engaging your senses to make this place vivid in your mind. You could even create a new daydream place to go when you feel worried or upset. What would it be?

(ex: grandpa's farm, the creek, my room, a place with only cats and bean bag chairs, a place in my imagination with my favorite things)

Wherever and whatever your Happy Place may be, the goal of this activity is to give you the power to bring a smile to your face and peace to your heart, whenever you visit this happy place.

What did you like about it? Remember some of the details. What could you see and hear? What could you smell in this place? When you close your eyes and imagine these things, you can bring that feeling you had of calm from that place.

Create your own happy place you can hold in your heart and visit whenever you want.

Imagine it...

Create it in the drawing, collage, painting or sculpture studio

Identity through Micrography

WHAT IS IDENTITY?

Your identity is made up of many things. It's like a puzzle with lots of pieces. Some pieces are things you like, like your favorite color or your hobbies, like playing soccer or drawing. Other pieces are things that make you unique, like your family, where you come from, and the language you speak, your interests, and the things you believe in. It's also about how you see yourself and how others see you.

What are some traits that describe you,  I’m smart, kind, athletic, musical, creative…

Your identity can personalize your artwork.

Self portraits are a way to explore identity.

Step one:

Create a background using a variety of drawing and coloring tools, applying ideas and concepts from the brainstorming session. Focus on the use of line and color to symbolize identity. Keep the details minimal.

Step two:

Take your picture with the iPad, or ask a friend to take a picture of you.
